Setbacks happen. Whether it’s sustaining an injury while working out or coming down with a cold on the first morning of a family vacation, we’ve all had them. And like anything else in life, things don’t always turn out according to plan. You’ll go through highs and lows, successes and failures. Don’t fret. We come out of these experiences on the other side–better, stronger and more adaptable from the experience.

Living a balanced, healthy and ultimately successful lifestyle is a constant process of learning, as well as healing and growing. Remember these simple keys the next time life throws a monkey wrench at you!

  • Learn from your mistakes. Put on a few pounds on your last vacation? Next time, don’t let your hard work go to waste. Incorporate exercise into your next vacation.
  • Remain positive. Setbacks are temporary. Stay optimistic in your thinking, and it will be easier to find a solution that will get you back on track.
  • Have a plan. For instance, having an exercise plan that’s right for your body type and goals doesn’t just get you better results—sticking to the plan will actually help you avoid many of the setbacks and injuries that others suffer. Don’t just “wing it” or follow something you read in a fitness mag; do some research.
